Hi, I'm Amanda Hoang!
Also, known as Mandy Movez. I'm a proud mom of three, wife, and dedicated runner attempting to live life to the fullest in Houston, Texas. My journey goes beyond the miles I run—I'm passionate about endurance and strength training, gardening, and experimenting in the kitchen with flavors that reflect my upbringing.
As a first-generation Vietnamese-American, I’m driven to represent and uplift minority moms like me, proving that we can thrive (or at least try) in every aspect of life. My mission? To inspire others to find joy in movement, no matter where they are in their journey, and to celebrate the strength within us all.

I've always believed that most of us start out as runners in childhood, racing around with friends just for the fun of it. I officially got into running when I joined the track team in junior high. It seemed like the simplest sport to pick up—just running, no special skills required—and it was a great way to be outside and make new friends. I continued running track during my freshman and sophomore years of high school, focusing on the 400 and the 4x400 relays. I wasn't the fastest, but I was out there to enjoy myself.
After high school, running became more of a casual activity for me, something I turned to for exercise and mental well-being. But it wasn't until after I had my first child in 2019 that my passion for running and fitness truly reignited. I started going to Orangetheory Fitness, and it sparked a desire in me to get stronger and carve out time for self-care. I became driven to push myself and improve, not for anyone else, but for me.

I majored in Digital Media Management with a minor in Communications and graduated from St. Edward's University in 2014. Growing up with platforms like Xanga, MySpace, and Facebook, I was fascinated by the world of social media and knew early on that I wanted to build a career around it. Throughout my internships and jobs, I’ve always been involved in social media marketing, whether working at agencies or in-house for companies in CPG, health & fitness, or healthcare.
It wasn’t until the fall of 2021, after having my second child and starting a demanding new job, that I took a more personal dive into content creation. The job was draining, with a commute of up to 1.5 hours each way and a toxic work culture, all while I was still less than a year postpartum. I’d never really shared much about my fitness journey on my personal social media, but it had always been a source of joy for me. I decided to start sharing it as a creative outlet, a space where I could express myself without the constraints of corporate deadlines, feedback, or restrictions.
I also wanted to connect with others who might relate to my experiences as a working millennial POC mom with young kids. It became a way to explore social media on my terms and, hopefully, to resonate with at least one person going through a similar journey.

I'm incredibly grateful for my village—my husband and both sets of parents who support us. Beyond that, discipline, prioritizing wants versus needs, staying consistent, making time, and letting go of ego are key. It’s definitely a juggling act, with lots of trial and error, and always a work in progress. For workouts, waking up before the kids, investing in a jogging stroller, and finding a gym with childcare have been game-changers. As parents, things often don’t go as planned, so learning to be flexible and letting go of what's beyond your control is crucial. It’s not the end of the world if something you want to do doesn’t happen. There's always tomorrow.
