Korean-style Steamed Eggs & Ham

This Korean-inspired steamed egg and ham recipe is a fluffy, savory delight, perfect for a protein-rich meal. When gently steamed in a hot water bath, these eggs transform into a silky custard with a texture reminiscent of soft tofu. Made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s honestly so easy and simple to make and hits the spot.

ingredients

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cup of chicken bone broth (I like Bonafide)

  • 2oz of deli ham, chopped

  • Soy sauce

  • Sesame oil

  • Chili crisp oil

  • 1 green onion, chopped

  • Optional

    • Jasmine rice

    • Kimchi

instructions

  1. In a small bowl, crack 2 eggs, add chicken bone broth, and whisk.

  2. Pour egg bone broth mixture using a fine mesh strainer into a small heat-safe bowl then add ham.

  3. In a pan, fill it with water and add a steamer basket, place your bowl on top. Add a small plate on top of your bowl. Cover the entire pot and cook for 12-15 minutes on medium heat.

  4. Once cooked, add soy sauce, sesame oil, chili crisp oil, and green onions on top, and enjoy with rice and kimchi!

Notes:

  • Adding egg white would also be great for extra protein just be sure to add more bone broth!

  • The egg should be firm but jiggly when “cooked”!
